Thursdaygiving

Please enjoy these pictures of my baked offerings to festivities in our apartment yesterday. Rachel brined a 10 lb turkey for everyone (thanks, Rachel), while Mallory and I braided a pumpkin pecan butter pastry.  I've been working on my butter braid game for about a year, and this one turned out to be my best one yet! It was huge, 18" × 8.5" fully baked.

Dessert was apple pie, made with mom's recipe for crust. It cut beautifully, holding shape just as well as a pumpkin pie AND it was delicious. I ran out of dough for the top before I could put on a finished edge, so it was kind of leaky. Stay tuned for the inevitable follow-up pie in my quest for baked perfection.
