Sorry that I didn't catch her flying toward the tree--she came from a different direction than the last two times and I wasn't sure where she was!
And here is a sequence of the pileated entering the nest tonight. And now I shall leave her alone!

Nice. The video clearly shows her flying to the tree, and her calling is loud and clear. The sequence of still shots is great. Well done.
ReplyDeleteIt took me far to long to discover this post. Pileated are such sharp looking birds. My first spy of one was on my first trip to Duluth during a beautiful snowfall.
